How do I go back to Avast free?

My Avast Internet Security trial ended today. I would like to know how to go back to the free version.

I do not see anything that says Switch me back to Avast free! Should I just update and reboot the system?

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Will I have to go into Program Files and click on AVAST software? And will I need to run the tool in Safe Mode?

Or simply put in the free license key and it will (or at least should) revert back to the free version.

Eddy, out of interest, can you confirm that it works…!?? (Never tried it)

I dont have a free license key. And one last thing. When I re-install avast free, will I need to enter in a email to keep the free version?
