How Do I Identify My Computer Problem?

I have some kind of virus. My computer runs great, but I cannot run a virus scan of any kind, with my regular installed Anti-Virus protection or any new kind of protection, eliminator or cleaner I try to install and/or run. It either won’t let me install one, or if it does, it will not let me run it. Some will run part way or most of the way and then “locks up” the computer. I then need to hit the shut-off buttton, then need to restart.

I know how I got it tho. I got a personal message from a “new” memeber of a car site I belong to. He send me a friendly “hello” and I stupidly clicked on a link he provided to learn more about him and I got stung. The moderators did not waste too much time tho as he soon got banned.

I have noticed that a lot of other posters label the problem they have and I was wondering how do I identify or find out what I have?

Thanks

Follow this guide from essexboy and post the logs

Appreciate the quick reply. I will follow the instructions and will get back to you all later today.

In the meantime would it be OK to send out and recieve E-mails (from good sources) as usual or will I possibly be sending others my “problems”?

Thanks

it depends on what bug you have

OK, thanks. I best stay on the safe side.

OK, I followed the guide and got to the “Perform Quick Scan” place, clicked Scan, it scanned just find, it completed and said “No Malicious Items Found”.

This isn’t what I was hoping for. Do I have bigger problems?

Thanks

Decided to put my results in a new topic: “Additional Problems”. Moderator you can delete this thread if you prefer to.
