how do I scan outbound e-mail when using a mail relay

I have to route outgoing mail through an office mail server to get to my ISP’s SMTP server.

Before I was upgraded to 4.5.-523, avast would scan and stamp outgoing mail.

Now I get a timeout on send if I redirect through 127.0.0.1, although I can send OK if I replace the 127.0.0.0.1 with the office mail servers IP address.

I have tried various adjustments with no success, although I do now have an intreasting collection of time out error messages.

I am using outlook express 6 on a windows 98 SE operating system.

Any help would be much appreciated

Welcome to the forum.
Try increasing your Server Timeouts Settings in OE under your Accouts settings.
Take a look at the pictures:

Hope that helps.

Just setup the mail to use the office mail server, since that is your smtp server. If you have a NT based system, Avast should take care of the rest.

Please, I ask to all avast users who is trying to help to not say that there is nothing happening. Eddy, please, I can’t send email too and I know that something is wrong with avast right now. It’s not a matter of opinion.

Computers without avast could authenticate the server without trouble.
I can’t send emails now in the accounts which needs authentication
