Avast doesn’t specifically scan the registry (e.g. only the registry) - during a scan if it makes a detection - then it should check for any associated registry entry.
I thought that when it completes a full scan (which takes a long time) then it invites you to scan the registry (which takes even longer). I must be mistaking what it invites me to do.
I’m merely trying clean out everything. I get harassed by a commercial product which tells me I have about 5000 errors and offers to clean them out for a fee.
We seem to have a misunderstanding here based on mis-interpretation of semantics. I thought it was fairly obvious that Pondus’ “here” meant the avast! support forums, not just this current topic. Particularly after he gave you a link to specific instructions for working on your problem. As David correctly (if a bit curtly) pointed out, you’ve been given assistance here (in both senses of that word) to direct you to the real experts, which is all we non-experts can do.
Sorry, David, I only now checked back and it was Bob, my bad. :-[ I guess I was thrown off by the mega-levels of quotes, plus losing what little is left of my mind.
