How do I stop the "Update your browser settings" message every time i open a new Avast/Chrome window?

Beginning today (11/5/24) every time I open a new browser window, I get a popup “suggesting” that i update my browser settings. It seems to want me mainly to make “Bing” my default search engine, which I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT. I cannot seem to fine any way to stop this popup. Anyone have suggestions or steps for how to make this stop. It is unbelievably annoying.

Must agree with you… If there is a good reason to use Bing, make an argument for it and let it go. Otherwise it just looks like the plan is to irritate us until we give in out of sheer frustration. Not a good look for an Internet service that projects Trust.

Ok, Avast people, are you reading this? Pushing us to Bing is not acceptable, as that comes with lots of other notices from Micfosoft and associations that I don’t want to read. So, if this stops by the time my renewal occurs, then good. If not, then I’m 'outta here." Too bad, I’ve used the Avast secure Pro version for years, and it has generally performed well, notwithstanding the legal findings against you for breaching your own security priomises. But, there are alternatives.

So far George391 has the top answer… if this is still happening on renewal-day… Aloha
