How do I uninstall the 4.6.652 update?

I need to back out this 4.6.652 update because of the ongoing problem with HTTP-based e-mail accounts. How do I back out this update?

If you have an old setupeng.exe file, you must uninstall the actual version, boot, install the old one and do not update it.
You don’t have any place to download old setup files.
The best will be trying to solve this problem and not go back to old versions.

First you will need to have saved a previous copy of avast 4.6.623 (I not sure if that pre-dates your problem), avast! doesn’t have downloads for previous versions only the current version.

Second use add remove programs to uninstall avast, reboot. I would suggest you also use the avast uninstall tool to ensure all traces are gone and reboot again, then install your earlier version.

Avast Uninstall Utility, find it here

Dragongild,

if you speak about Hotmail WebDAV from Outlook Express this should be already working for users running WinNT based systems. If you configured WebShield manualy as a proxy (e.g. because you use Win98), you can exclude hotmail accounts from proxying - please follow the instructions here:

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B259133&x=12&y=3

Full update which scans hotmail and works with manual proxy should be available soon.

Cheers.
Lukor.

Lukas,

There seem to be some WinNT based users of Avast who claim (in a recent thread) that they are unable to access Hotmail via WebDav or experience severely degraded service since they upgraded to the 4.6.652 release.

Maybe they are imagining it.

Hmmm, that is what you do think?

I’ve just talked with some other guys from the team. It seems the change should be propagated at the latest in the next VPS update. Sorry, I thought it’s already widely distributed.
