It runs an on-demmand scanning according to the settings you’ve taken.
You can use your screensaver time to scan. That’s the feature 8)
I changed from the screen saver to “idle” time. I just downloaded, installed, configured, and registered the Avast! program. Even went to www.eicar.com and tried to download their double zip file “fake virus” and Avast! blocked all attempts.
With the screen saver, will it continually scan the fies for “fingerprinting” each file, or is it more of a ‘scan my computer’ type of scan?
If it only runs when idle, if I have a task pre-set to perform, such as my nightly backup of certain files, will shut down while the back up takes place? (turbo backup program)
Thanks for the info. I see it now. You pick the screen saver you want associated with Avast, program what files or directories you want scanned by adding exclusions from the Avast tasks folder, and then when the screen saver is activated it begins that scan. I would imagine that you have to select the Avast “labelled” screen saver from your screen saver display settings for it to be activated.
Regarding the question about what what happens to the scan if you start a backup automatically: isn’t teh screen saver stopped when any other activity on the computer begins?
