The only irritating adverts I get are from AVAST itself. How do I stop the bloody things? Paid up subscription.

These are a fact of the free version, but can be removed in paid versions of Avast - AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General - Personal Privacy and you can uncheck them, ‘Show offers for other Avast Products’ and ‘Show offers for 3rd party products’.
Also check the AvastUI > Menu > Settings > Notifications - Limited Mode.

I have Avast Premium Security and do not see those options anywhere.. Don’t see the “More Apps” option either, for example..

Now, if I could get rid of that annoying hold-up on new tabs in the Secure Browser that offers “Bing”.. that would be lovely. Anything??

Sorry on that one I don’t use Chrome or the Avast Secure Browser (a chromium based browser).
But my guess would be buried somewhere in the three dots settings, under search engines.
