How to change the white background in W8

G’day W8 Users Only,

In the windows explorer where you view files and directories how can I change the bloody white bright look background into a nice soft light gray in the W8 settings, as I haven’t found the setting as it completely bloody different from W7 Pro.

Ta…Please help as my eyes :o are killing me.

You can change the boarder colour but I’ve never known about changing the white information area ???

Well I have no idea if win8 has anything like previous incarnations of windows. Right clicking on an empty part of the desktop (Ha) and selecting Properties brought up the Display Properties window. The Appearance tab, Advanced allowed you to change the Window colour.

This took a few moments to do, but longer to capture the images ;D

Where is Uncle bloody Bob the builder the W8 Jedi Master when I needed him, before the Dark Lord W8 will kill me bloody eyes out ;D :o

DavidR don’t be a smartarse XP show off I wish that feature was available somewhere in the bastard OS.

Its called progress ;D

All I can find speedy is here Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution then click on Advanced, the picture I posted is what you want I think but I wouldn’t no where to start in changing things ???

Easiest to run a search for colour management

I’ve already check this Craigb it doesn’t do anything similar to DavidR idea from XP to W8 that feature suppose to be hiding somewhere in W8 and I’m not 100% sure it available in W8, otherwise MS is going to PI$$ ME OFF >:( and try and where bloody sun glasses while typing is not a great idea 8)

Where was the option in win7 ? I had never seen it

Last time I checked was in control panel in the display section and W7 had a similar feature to DavidR XP screenshot which you can change the whiting background to a nice tone colour that won’t burn your bloody eyes out.

Edit: My G75VX is giving me a bloody sun tan.

My win7 is exactly he same as win8 in display settings, I can see no difference ???

You can set the brightness lower which should help, you have the same screen as me so 45% should be fine.

Than I can’t remember if I install a software tool that allow me to change it

Check out this search string, http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=app+to+change+windows+8+program+window+background+color+-metro.

This one seems to fit the bill for win7, not if they have one for win8 great or you have to continue searching, http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-7-folder-background-changer-released.

What David has posted with http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-7-folder-background-changer-released would have been what you must have used before Speedy, seems to be the only highly recommended tool to do this as well.

Nothing like this has been created for win8 yet that I know of, so what I would do is make an image and try that very same tool.

That the one! ;D I forgot about this website call ‘The Windows Club’     Thanks DavidR ;D ;D

Don’t worry Craigb I always to a windows system image before I go any futher I’m not like -midnight

Didn’t work sh#t >:(

That sux :frowning: easiest way to restore image is through the Charms bar/ Change PC settings/ General and scroll to the bottom to Advanced Start up.

You’re welcome.

Sorry Speedy but I was in the middle of a snow storm in AZ trying to get back home from yesterdays presentation.
See if the following does you any good:

That one doesn’t help at all Bob it won’t allow me to change it manually, and beside the features to give me all the options doesn’t change the settings
