When this account was created I was under the impression that my username is completely hidden from anyone. Is this the case and if not how do I change my username manually?
Everyone sees your username. It isn’t something you can change.
I am under the impression that your screen name is seen by everyone and your username is not, since the username doesnt appear next to my icon when i post but my screen name does. Are you sure the user name is visible to everyone?

so our email address we sign up with is our username and not seen by anyone? Forgive me for having to be thorough. There’s too large a margin of error when I am not.
If you are referring/relating to what is displayed in the Forums ?
The terms/names are differ, first there is Your username, an email address (not displayed in the general forums) and Name (what is displayed in the forums to identify the poster), as you can see from the other contributors
It isn’t actually the same and your email address is essentially hidden, to others, with exception to moderators.
