How to check if CyberCapture is working properly?

Hello
What can I do to test if CyberCapture is working? I tried to tweak some settings and someone said there are a few criterias that must be met in order to make cybercapture work
I would like to ask if there is any tool or file which I can test cybercapture

thank you

In order for CyberCapture to work, these 4 criteria must be met.

  • CyberCapture needs to be enabled
  • The file needs to be downloaded via HTTP(s) - At this moment of time no others protocols or USB moving will trigger it.
  • You have to have the Web Shield component installed “webshield to spot the download and mark it as being downloaded from a specific url”
  • Participating in the Avast Community

There is no tool but you should be able to trigger it if you find an unknown/low reputation file which hadn’t already been analysed.

There is a whole thread on CyberCapture here:

Edit : Added more info.

Easiest way to check is monitoring the network traffic.
You should see that avast is sending the hash of a file to the avast server(s).

As for “Participating in the Avast Community”, we know that beacause ( I beleve ) Lukas told us.
But from the Avast settings that is not clear at all.
Imo there should be a “Warning popup” when you disable “Participating in the Avast Community”.

That’s true but users need to know before changing default settings of the implications they can cause.

Yes, but how should they know now ?

( Sorry to the OP as I am “hijacking” your topic a bit :stuck_out_tongue: )
