How to Disable Avast "Advanced Issues" scans - I DO NOT WANT THEM

Why can’t I just have a Free Anti-virus? I have used Avast for many, many years - on and off since first Beta testing for Avast, beginning years before Avast was bought out so long ago…
Now it provides Excellent protection AND has some of the most undesirable add-ons I have ever seen in an application. Avast used to be a great stand-alone anti-virus product - now it the same product wrapped in additional advertising promoting features un-needed and undesired.

Please Avast or someone help:
I DO NOT WANT Avast to perform the 3rd step of the auto-scanning,

  • TO DISABLE searching for Advanced Issues.

I take full responsibility for all content, all file cleanup, everything, I do not want Avast analyzing my PC content.
I consider it an INVASION OF MY PRIVACY to look at content and judge it as needing protection

Things like:

  • 1,584 Sensitive Documents are unprotected - THIS Scares me to death - HOW would Avast protect them? Would it set encryption on my folder without my permission? I am well aware of NTFS Encryption and have lost access to files after a reinstall of Windows - I do NOT want this to happen if Avast decided to change my folder properties.

  • The Mailbox …. could be vulnerable to scams - HUH? What business is it of Avast to be looking at my business emails? What right does Avast have to judge whether I am smart enough to avoid scams or not? Only way I can think of is to analyze the content of my email to see if it meets criteria to possibly be a scam AND that violates my concern over Avast’s Right to read my emails!

The worst is

  • Your banking credentials are at risk - HOW THE HE## do you know my credentials are at risk? Did you look at my passwords?

These and dozens more - I have NO interest and am highly offended Avast is analyzing my systems content to create these suggestions!

I used to LOVE Avast, then it changed, got fancy and started showing pop-up ads disrupting my day - then they added the ability to block some of these - it got better.
But NOW this Advanced Issues page is nothing more than a TERRIFYING page suggesting urgent need to take action without saying what that action would be.
I would guess many of these are solicitations for optional pay services.

Can someone tell me how to get JUST PLAIN ANTI-VIRUS and MALWARE protection without Advanced Issues analysis? Oh, and you used to be able to disable sending ads for AV at the bottom of sent emails - not anymore - I get replies to businesses I sent email to with my original stating “Scanned by Avast” - well… what if I am applying for a job somewhere that doesn’t like Avast?

Thanks,

Todd

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

Essentially stop running on-demand scans including the so called Smart Scan.

With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

You could modify the default settings not to run the Smart Scan and also other settings.

Managing pop-up notifications in Avast Antivirus Premium

  • Scroll down to Stop offers for other products. - If you use Avast Premium Security, you can additionally stop seeing offers for other Avast products and Personalised Discounts. ** Avast UI > Menu > Settings > General > Notifications.
  • Also check the AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General - Notifications, I would suggest using the Pop-up Notifications treatment - Limited Mode.
