I apologize for this rudimentary question, but I searched for the answer for a while to no avail.
A program has been misidentified as malware by Avast. I have disabled all the shields of Avast. However, I still cannot run the program. It seems to remember it somehow. Could any one offer a tip on how to enable the program without uninstalling Avast?
Avast likely moved the file in which it detected the threat into the Chest, so it’s no longer on your system in the normal place and can’t be run.
Open Avast’s UI, find the Chest wherever they normally keep it (I’ve pinned it to one of the boxes in the main screen), and (as long as you’re ABSOLUTELY SURE it’s a false positive detection and not really malware) right-click the virus file and choose Restore & Add to Exlcusions.
Be sure, or you’ve just forced Avast to allow malware into your system.

Thanks a lot, Noel.
The program is finally running now after I restored it by following your instructions.
Yes, I am 100% sure it is not malware. Avast has so many false positives (yes, I am 100% sure they are false positives) that I have turned off the shield.

Might be better to exclude them specifically for now, so that you don’t have to do without the protection entirely in the long run.

I am using Norton for AV. It has been working very well.
I have Avast for using its other tools.
Thanks a lot again.
