Hi! There is a blue dog on our desktop, and I’ve been told it might be a virus. The blue dog shows only before I get onto windows. After getting onto windows, it is no longer seen.
To let you know what I have on our computer at present, to war against viruses, and to keep the registry clean, here is a list of what I have:
ANTIVIRUS: Avast Perfection, which I paid for.
VIRUS REMOVER: Spybot
CLEAN UP ADWARE: Adaware
REGISTRY CLEANERS: Regseeker - from Hoverdesk, and Cleanup - from Steven Gould.
FIREWALL: Sygate
All of these were free, except for the Avast antivirus program. Do I have all I need, or am I lacking some thing I absolutely need to have to keep my computer protected?
Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
Maybe it’s good a full scanning with ewido (www. ewido.net). You can use the free version (without the resident shield) for scanning.

Whenever posting a request for help, it's a very good idea
to also post the name of your Operating System.
Spybot is NOT a virus remover, but an antiSPYWARE
program like Ad-Aware.
To complement what you have, an antiTROJAN program
such as Ewido would be a good addition, assuming your
Operating System is either Win 2000 or Win XP.
As far as the "Regseeker" registry cleaner, I am under the
impression that this is for "Advanced" users !?
