Hi, I’ve been a paying customer of Avast Internet Security products for several years. I took advantage of the free 3-day trial offer for SecureLine VPN, and now I keep getting nag screens (once or twice per day) asking me to resubscribe. How do I deactivate this? Surely I should not have to endure advertisements in perpetuity?
Disable the “show pop-ups for other avast products” in the settings.
Gah! A simple fix. Thank you sir. This completely slipped past my aging eyes.
Things aren’t always hard and it can happen to everyone to overlook something.
Hi. Pretty much the same deal as OP, except I bought 1 month of this just to try it out. It worked fine, but I am just not the kind of person that need it that badly.
But these nag screens is starting to piss me off. Uninstalling secureline didn’t help, and disabling pop up for avast products didn’t help either.
Surely they don’t mean to scare off loyal customers by screaming “Give us money!” in their faces?
Been using avast for years, but if completely purging my computer of any avast traces, to then go to their competitor is the only way to remove the nag screen, then so be it.
But did you do what Eddy said to remove the offers?
Just putting my 10 cents in here
Iv been using and happy with avast internet security for years but that BUY NOW nag screen is annoying to the point of making me want to uninstall avast and go with another program.
If i have to go to the forums, find the right sections, dig through posts JUST to turn it off, im sure MANY others are just uninstalling!
Maybe a don’t show this message again checkbox on the pop-up wouldn’t kill?
Side note: If there wasn’t a post about this and i saw that pop-up one more time i prob would have uninstalled avast and i love the program!
For those that can’t find the button: Settings->Appearance->Popups->Show popup offers for other Avast! products (Checkbox)
Hello,
Unchecking the box for ‘show pop up offers for other avast! products’ has not stopped the pop up boxes asking me to re-subscribe to secure-line.
Anything else I can do to not be pestered by these?
You can go into Control Panel- Programs/features- choose Avast, click Change in the Avast setup options and then ‘Uncheck’ the box in front of Secureline in the “Tools” Column.
Reboot.
Thanks !!!
You’re welcome,
Good thing I found this reply. I was seriously considering not renewing Avast altogether and getting a different anti-virus program.
Checking the forums out and using the ‘search’ function often times is a good strategy for solving Avast issues.
