How to keep myself safe with Windows 8.1 RTM

[font=verdana]Hi avast!ians :slight_smile:
I upgraded to Windows 8.1 RTM from Windows 8… I had avast! premier installed before with a valid subscription but it is not compatible with Windows 8.1 RTM right now… I can understand that avast! won’t bring support to it till October. So I am struck with Windows defender for now. I have installed Malwarebytes free too . I tried avast! 9 beta but it brought BSOD with it :frowning: . So what else can I do to keep myself safe from viruses ? Thanks in advance [/font]

One small problem… The software updater is disabled and can’t be enabled. The action center is also not recognizing avast!,it shows that avast! is snoozed…
Except those , everything is fine :smiley:

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
