how to kill an app.

I downloaded a game demo (Crashday) and instead of getting a 300 MB download I got a quick 1 sec download with a crashday-demo.exe (nuetral icon) on my desktop. I though that the demo didn’t download properly so I went to delete the app from my desktop but I get an error message: This program is being used by another user or program…and I can’t delete it. I can’t find the process to kill it so i can delete it. I really want this off my computer so I am wondering if there is some kinda application I can use to find whatever is running the crashday-demo.exe and termnate it.

Try downloading this program it will indicate what is usung it and also give the option to end the process using it, that should free it to be deleted.

First, try right clicking the Crashday icon on the desktop and selecting properties. In the open box, both … Target: … and … Start In: … should give you info that would be useful. I would take this route first to get rid of the program. If you have no luck, then …

You might want to try What’s Running.

It should tell you what application or process is connected with Crashday. You can also kill the process with this program BUT be sure you know what you are killing.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks.

I used Killbox to get rid of it upon boot.

I do not know if related but I have had a large number of virus detected on my computer today:

VBS:Malware [GEN]
JS:OpenConnection-I
JS:OpenConnection-J
Win32: TrojanGen

Detected then erased all. Then I ran Avast again after getting rid of the crashday-demo.exe and I found the same infections.

Perhaps it was from the download site? ???

 “Game” sites have a tendency of “bundling” spyware
with the games they download to you .
