Was loving V8 until today, when I started getting nag screens to upgrade to AIS - Any way to get rid of these? VERY annoying!
Do you have a screenshot, as I haven’t seen any of these nag screens you talk of.
Will get one next time it happens…basically it looks like the definitions update popup touting the benefits of AIS with a “Upgrade Now” button.
Try the pop up settings.
I just noticed there is a section in the new Avast 8 to set for the pop ups. You should be able to set them to either 1 second or 0 seconds. Play around with them to see what works for you.
Zero, 0 as a value for the pop-up duration isn’t valid, the lowest duration is 1 second.

If this is indeed related to the update notification pop-ups.
See image example, that I captured quite some time ago on avast 7 (two months before renewal was due), so may differ to the avast 8 layout/format for the update notification.
If this is a double height update notification pop-up this doesn’t happen every time, but periodically and usually when you are closer to renewal. Since it is piggybacked on to the update notification, you can’t strip out the upgrade info. But you can disable the update notification pop-up, but you probably want the notification, so lowering the duration to 1 second is an alternative option.
I havent gotten one today so I dont have a screenshot yet.
Basically its a double height green popup without any update information saying “Did you know AIS gives you x. y, and z” with an Upgrade Now button at the bottom.
I just renewed my free license recently so that shouldnt be an issue.
Yes, still around renewal time + or - a few weeks are the more likely times it might appear, as I said it shouldn’t be every time. Plus you have measures to limit its exposure should to do so.
