How to know if Avast is doing what it does

I just redownloaded Avast Home 4.0 2 questions i got it working with FireFox ;D
How do i know if the Instant Messager protection is working? I have AIM only
also how do i know if the P2P Protection is working?

Try sending or recieving Eicar file test on AIM (have someone download and send it, or try and send it to someone else).

Search for Eicar file test on Kazaa (I tried this and results do come up). Download it, Avast! should detect it.

note: In case you didn’t know, Eicar file is similar to a virus but is totally harmless.

I dont want to search on Kazaa people prob. have modded it to really do something.

Though im sure Avast will catch it i dont want to play with fire.
Now if Avast came with a built-in spam filter aragh ;D

Download eicar from reliable source (official page). COM file might be something different then it says on Kazaa…
