HOW TO PROTECT YOUR WEB SEARCHES

AOL-HELL recently released more than 500K of user search records, some very private data, without its users permission. While the AOL username had been changed to a random ID number, the abilitiy to analyze all searches by a single user would often lead people to easily determine who the user was, and what they were up to. The data included personal names, addresses, social security numbers and everything else someone might type into a search box.

What’s a searcher to do? Actually, there’s quite a bit you can do to make your searches more private. Lifehacker has a bunch of tips to keep your search records to yourself.

Yep, OK, thanks to drhayden1 I am now Lost in Google’s Crowd, and together with a running TrackMeNot plug-in with my own random search query file, it is not that easy to analyze Polonus’s search results.

Great info drhayden1, keep “serving them up” this privacy security info, you’re getting good at it. Thanx,

polonus
