How do I stop the annoying “Avast needs to restart” pop-up window??

Even right after I do an Avast update and restart my computer, that very annoying “Avast needs to restart” window pops up. Even if I tell it to “remind me next century” it still pops up again soon after that. And if I give in and let it restart, shortly afterward it will still pop up again!

Even worse, if I’m typing with flying fingers and the window pops up unexpectedly, Avast accepts my next keystroke as permission to restart, and it does a hard close of all applications and browsers, dumping some of my work!

Someone please help save me from this constant aggravation! Thx!!!

First and foremost, set your Program updates to ‘Ask when an update is available’ and not what it probably is set to ‘Automatic update.’ That way you initiate the program update when you are ready for it and can reboot after that.

I still think that the “remind me next century” option is a wicked sense of humour than a genuine option, given that it is ignored.

I got the pop-up and I’m using the latest version.
