I deleted Avast from my MacBook using App Cleaner but there must still be traces of Avast on my laptop as I get the message when I try to re-install that it is already installed. How to I completely uninstall it from my machine?
Thanking you in anticipation.
I wasn’t sure if there is an off-line uninstaller for Avast for MAC Security, but there is one for the Windows Version.
So I did a search:
Which returned this:
Thank you for taking a look. My problem is I don’t have the Avast app or the uninstaller on my machine anymore so I am unable to follow the guidance in the link. I assume I just have some remnants which is causing the problem.
You’re welcome.
Not being an avast-mac-security user (or an Avast Team member) sorry I wasn’t able to provide more help than I found via searches.
Try manually removing leftover files! Go to Library > Application Support and Library > Preferences to delete any Avast-related folders. Also, check Library > LaunchAgents and Library > LaunchDaemons for Avast files. Then, restart your Mac and try reinstalling. Hope this helps!
Hi, I am also stuck trying to delete Avast in a Mac Ventura. In my case I used Appcleaner and didn’t mind about it for a while, now I want to install another antivirus but a. when I try to install it I get a message that I have to uninstall Avast first, but b. Avast is no where to be found, including no trace of the word in Spotlight, and c. I can’t even update Avast, the installer asks me to uninstall the previous version but it is no where to be found! This is the weird message I get when trying to install AVG: “Avast security software is already installed on your machine. AVG cannot be installed as it may not be compatible with your @INCOMPATIBLE_AV@ security software”. Hope someone can help? Thanks anyway for your time!
