hpofxm08.exe

I believe that Avast is returning a false positive for the following file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpofxm08.exe

I received the warning when running a scan of my computer. The file appears to be part of the software for my printer that I downloaded from the HP website. I have checked the file at Virustotal and it is reporting that Avast is the only AV reporting the files as malware.

Has anyone else experienced this?

there was another case reported this week .....

You can upload and report FP to avast here: http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php

you can also use mail

send to virus@avast.com in a password protected zip file
mail subject: False Positive
zip password: infected

or you can send files from avast chest
how to use the chest. http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB21

My Avast also saw this (same file path and name) as a Win32 Malware Gen file during today’s quick scan, 9/5/13. I found it odd as the file modified date is the date I purchased the printer, over three years ago.

Thank you Pondus for the link on how to use the Chest as that was going to be my next question.
