Does this happen in all browsers and all sites or just a specific site
thanks for your interest i use only Firefox but i have read it hijacks all browsers it seams to happen on all sites were u have to open up a new window when u click on a link. tonight i haven’t had it happen to me but i notice i am getting a lot of Server not found but if i click the try again option a few times it finds the page or site i am looking for not sure if this is related prob or just firefox bug as i updated firefox last night
Could you take IE out for a test run please to confirm it is not just Firefox with the problem
sorry dont have IE on this system any more as it got messed up a few years ago trying to remove it. it dident uninstall prop and became corrupt that is why i only use firefox But when i first goggled this prob i found that it affects all browsers IE/CHROME/FIREFOX ON OTHER PEOPLES SYSTEMS some say that it is a browser hijacker that hides in either your extensions or your plugins and they recommended clicking on Firefox help /troubleshooting/reset firefox i did this and it created a folder on my desktop with my extensions etc in so i deleted this in case the prob was in there
I don’t know how to remove this !@#$% virus but I do know how to disable it by blocking its access to the internet.
In Windows, open your Hosts file. In Vista, it’s normally located here: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Once it’s open, add the following lines:
127.0.0.1 shpr.co
127.0.0.1 px.pluginhandler.info
127.0.0.1 static.getjs.net
Then save and close the file. You may need to disable your Anti-virus program to be able to save the Hosts file. Be sure to re-activate it once you’ve saved the Hosts file.
Also, be forewarned that this px.pluginhandler.info appears to be a well-orchestated campaign on behalf of a sleazy anti-virus vendor. They infect your computer and then offer to sell you their program to remove it. Furthermore, by using black-hat SEO methods, they have created a bunch of different sites that offer to solve the problem for you by selling you their anti-virus software, so if you do a search, all the sites you find are run by the same people who infected your computer in the first place!
I sincerely hope someone hunts these people down, soaks them with gasoline, sets them on fire and then posts the video of their demise on YouTube…
thanks ill give it a go
