“HTTP server returned error"

Hi, I am almost 70 yo and NOT tech savvy.
Avast Free Current version = 18.5.2342 (build 18.4.3931.338)
Microsoft 8.1 on a Toshiba laptop
Am I the only one with this problem? For 2 days Avast says Virus definitions are outdated but when I try to update it immediately says “HTTP server returned error" then DNS tries to resolve but no luck. Same thing if I try to update the current version of Avast. I did reboot my router but no change

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
