hxxp://54.213.74.177/?check=2 --Same Issue as Others

This keeps popping up on my screen but I have not done anything different than I do every day…
I’ve already downloaded and run the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and attached the logs.
Please let me know if I’ve done something wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This should cure it

Here’s the log it created.

Here’s the log from the AdwCleaner.

There was one I had unchecked before hitting Clean because it looked like a file I need for the computer to run…I guess you’ll let me know if I should have removed it?

Thanks for all your help.

That was an orphaned adware installer

How is the computer behaving ?

It’s hasn’t popped up again yet so I guess I’ll give it a day or so and see what happens…should I rerun that AdwCleaner and get rid of the installer?

Your choice as it is an orphan

If all is well tomorrow let me know and I will tidy up

Okay, thank you!!

It just popped up again when I clicked on a video to watch.

Is it appearing with the same frequency or was that just a one off

So far it was just that one time.

Was that a you tube video or another site ?

It was another site. It is actually doing it every time there is an ad in a video anywhere or on a website.

Hmm sounds like there is a new malicious set of video ads out there on some sites

But your system appears clean

Well, thank you for your help. I haven’t had anymore problems with it since the other day but I haven’t watched anymore videos either… If it happens again, I’ll be back, lol. Thanks again!!

OK I have received confirmation that it was a false positive by Avast

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:
