There have been topics similar to this one yet, but they all started months or years ago, and provide no satisfying solution for me.
My problem: When I want my Miranda IM to connect to IRC, avast! uses 99% CPU time and thus blocks everything (I can hardly kill Miranda in the task manager).
If I deactivate avast!, everything works fine. I tried to exclude the Miranda folder from being scanned in different setting dialogs, but none of them worked. (I can’t say for sure what the names of the dialogs are, as my avast! is German. But I think it’s “program settings - excludes” and “settings for resident task - advanced”).
I hope that wasn’t to confused and you can help me out
Maybe I should add that I use Windows Vista Home Premium and avast! 4.7 Home Edition
Yes, thanks - I thought I had tried this before but - I don’t know, it works now, thanks.
I will just leave it turned off for Miranda, I don’t think this is a security problem as I can let Miranda scan the transferred files via avast. I will only have to find out the command line parameters for avast to scan a file.
Assuming that you installed avast! in the default folder, this is the path needed to scan downloads, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
