Welcome to the forums, lorenzone92!
First, tell us what is the OS (XP, 2000, Me, etc) of your computer as the reply could be different for these (not available with W95, W98, etc).
Thanks for your reply.
Well… I’ve Windows XP and Avast! 4.6 Pro.
In my Avast there isn’t this option (for scan the file downloaded with P2P client)!!
Why?!
What is your P2P client?
Is it not in the List of supported P2P clients in the P2P Shield?
The Standard Shield, depending on settings and the type of file downloaded may well automatically scan newly created files.
Is there not an option in your P2P client to have an AV scan downloaded files?
If so then this is the file and location C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
you should be able to do the following …
Left click the “a” ball in the task tray > scroll down to P2P Shield on left of user interface and click > user interface changes to P2P and click on “customize” button > in new window check all p2p programs you want (I have them all checked just in case I change my mind and use a p2p client) > click OK.
If this does not work, please post again so that someone may help you farther.
No… You haven’t understood my problem.
I haven’t the option in Avast! for scan the file downloaded with P2P clients.
Look this picture, this is a normal Avast!. It’s not mine and it has that option! I haven’t it! Why?

EDIT: Excuse me for my english. I’m italian
Sorry … yes, I mis-understood.
Try to repair avast in the Add/Remove feature of Windows. Select Avast and then click Change/ Remove. Scoll down and click on repair. You will need to be on-line to do this. I hope this will correct your missing P2P. If not, please post again.
Well the option should be there by default unless you removed it.
You can add the P2P Shield back by making a Change to avast’s elements.
From the Add Remove Programs, select avast antivirus, click Change/Remove, Click the Change icon, and click Next, from here tick the p2p box.
I’ve tried to Repair Avast but I can’t see the option yet.
Before install Avast I had Norton AntiVirus 2006. I didn’t like it and so I unistalled it and installed Avast. During the installation the wizard sayed that some options of avast can’t work correctly because Norton AntiVirus is not compatible with avast.
But I’ve unistalled Norton!!!
Pheraps this is the problem.
Now I’ve deleted all the Registry Key with the name of “Symantec” or “Norton” and I’ve tried to launch the Repair tool but avast is the same!
I’ve clicked on the “Change/Remove” button of Avast Wizard but the option for scan the file downloaded is already selected!!
This is most certainly the problem, this would have ben helpfull earlier.
Norton has in the past been an absolut pig to get rid of, however, the later versions were supposed to be better.
Try this which is a program removal tool, which can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT
After you have done that, reboot, uninstall avast, reboot and install avast again. Hopefully that will resolve it.
OK … the problem might be that even though you deleted registry keys for Norton something is still there. Go to the link below and select the remove tool for your version of Norton’s …
I hope this helps you with your problem.
Edit :
Oops … David posted before me.
Before a clean, new installation of avast, check the option
Before a clean, new installation of avast, try to see through the option ‘Change’ (and not Repair) of the setup options.
Hi :).
I’ve tried to launch the removal tool that you have linked but it’s the same!
Now every time I reboot my PC avast say that Norton is incompatible with avast and some options are disabled!!
Do you know another removal tool for Norton?
Sorry they are the only removal suggestions we have for Norton, since Norton 2006 is very recent, they haven’t built a manual uninstall tool for it.
I’ve had a look using google and I can’t see anything directly related to a manual uninstall of norton antivirus 2006. Perhaps the only other option is a registry cleaner which will look for redundant regstry entries.
On the page at the link below, it states that SymNRT will remove Norton Antivitus 2006. Please follow all directions closely.
If this is what you tried and you still get warnings from avast then I can only suggest a registry edit to get rid of the leftover Norton/Symantec entries. BUT, only do a registry edit after doing a backup of the registry and only if you are comfortable with regedit.
The only other option I can think of would be to contact Symantec directly either through a phone call or through email (if possible).
