I did not have other AV in that clean VM XP system.
It could be a temp error/bug.

bry207, are you using a normal installer to install the avast program, that you downloaded from the avast website? if so, you could try using the “online installer” instead… here is a post with links for downloading the “online installers” :

on the other hand, i see you are trying to install the avast program in a VM environment, which might be problematic…
