When I was scanning my computer with avast! it found a trojan with the name of “Win32:Mhtplo-26[Trj]” in “C:\undo” folder.
It was last modified on 18th November 2005. It won’t go to the chest because of its size of 357MB. It contains alot of other files inside it… I’ve moved it into C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\moved and scanned it 3 times and came up with the same message of it having a trojan…
Can you identify the precisely file into the archive that is being shown as infected?
Do you mean that you moved all the archive file to the folder? It won’t help that much…
Is this the only one file that avast is showing as infected? I’m guessing if this is not a false positive of avast…
oops I forgot to add that it is a cabinet file. When I scan the file it scans all the different folders in it. Then it says it’s scanning the data.cab (not data.cab\folder\folder\program.extention) it then finds the trojan. I scanned my whole C:\ drive and that is the only one infected.
When I view it in WinZip, it says there is 5000-something files but when it is being scanned, it shows 8000 files have been tested.
And yes, I moved it because thats the only thing I could do.
Can you open avast antivirus and run a thorough scanning with only THIS data.cab file?
Enable reports into avast settings, including all options, post the results… let’s see if we can help you more…
I scanned the file again with the report option on. I tried to move it to the chest and now it works! But whenever i go to the folder in which the reports are supposed to go to all there is is: avast.xsl
background.gif logo.gif and Resident Protection.txt
Nothing much is in the txt file exept the duration of my real-time scanner. If it is in the chest, is it now OK?
