I got a virus! help!

Hello,
I use Avast family edition for two years. Now, from two weeks, i see a green balloon with the word OASIS written on it going form bottom to up of the screen of my desk computer. Is it a virus? Or Is it a fact of Avast? Or something else??

yes it must be an adware or something like that…did u scan with avast?do u have any anti-spyware program?if u do then scan with that too othrewise download one at http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/security/fwantispy.html (i recommend spybot and super antispyware) or avg antispyware from www.free.grisoft.com
dont forget to update the programs before u scan… :wink:

For sure it’s not avast. I suggest general cleaning procedures:

  1. Disable System Restore and reenable it after step 3.
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on.
  4. Use AVG Antispyware; SUPERantispyware and/or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
  5. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest AVG or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  6. Make a HijackThis log to post here or, better, submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
