Hi , i need a Avast Rescue Disc iso for Windows XP / 7 PC ,
i tried creating one in Windows 8 & windows 10 pcs cause thats the current pcs’ im on but the iso’s they create do no work for older machines , i get like an error while its booting and i notice the windows logo is the win logo from the windows 8 / 10 machines ,
i did some research and the error is because the XP / 7 PC’s dont meet the requirements to launch this new Avast rescue iso so i am looking for one that works for Win Xp / Win 7 PC’s
i dont see any options in creating different version of iso’s in the avast i have on my win 8 / 10 pc’s ,
if anyone can help i would appreciate it ,
Thanks for the reply but that is just to show you how to create the rescue iso file ,
i do know how to create it , its just that the version of avast i am on , does not create the Boot Rescue iso for Windows XP / 7 machines , if i would boot up from a Windows 8 /10 machine it would work fine but for some reason Avast does not give you the option of what type of Version of Rescue iso would you like to create it only creates the Boot Rescue iso based on the machine your on , so the Rescue Iso i create on My Windows 8 / 10 machines ( cause i tried in on both my pcs ) wont work on the Windows Xp / 7 machines i am trying to check ,
You don’t say which version of Avast you used to create a Rescue Disk. Note the latest version of Avast does not support WinXP. The last version of Avast that supports WinXP is v18. I have never needed to use Rescue Disk yet myself but I think you would need to create a Rescue Disk using Avast v18 for use on a WinXP machine. i.e. create a Resue Disk on the machine you will use it on.
I am using the current avast version on my windows 8 / 10 machines thats why it wont create a WindowsXP / 7 Boot rescue cd iso so i can boot scan those machines i dont have an extra machine where i can install that old version of avast where maybe i can created an iso boot file which i dont remember avast having that option during the xp days ,
what i need is a iso boot rescue so i can scan the machine ,
the machine partially boots but there is a virus but i need a iso that can scan on boot ,
i just need a boot rescue cd iso that i can just launch on boot up and do a scan that is all
Avast has had a Rescue Disk creator facility (although sometimes a bit hidden in the UI) as far back as I can remember.
You say you have a virus. Have you looked for help for removing a virus here:- https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4.0
where would i find this " Rescue Disk creator facility " is it on the program itself , or on the website ,
i just need a avast boot iso virus scanner for Windows XP machine , its simple .
See
Avast UI> Protection> Virus Scans
You will see Rescue Disk it at the top of that screen near Scan History.
Certainly that is the case for V19. I don’t have my WinXP with Avast Free V18 running at the moment, but believe it is the same.
You can create either Rescue CD or USB, but will wipe the USB if you go that route.
As far as I know you can’t download a Rescue disk from the Avast website.
Edit: OK see screenshot from my WinXP/Avast v18 combo, showing whereabouts of “Rescue Disk” creation feature.
@schmidthouse good point.
If not visible need to use:
Menu> Troubleshooting> Add/Modify Components,
then tick the ‘Rescue Disk’ component checkbox listed there.
It isn’t in the UI for avast 18.5 that I have on my XP Pro SP3 system, but as bob said you can go the Add Remove Programs route. That is how I captured the image.
K i’m a type this again , simple ,
the only machines i am able to create a rescue cd / usb are from windows 8 /windows 10 machine , they do not offer a rescue CD for windows xp ,
which is what i need to check on a Windows XP machine ,
i cannot use a Windows XP machine to create the Avast Rescue CD because it has issues ,
what i dont see and i dont understand why avast does not give you the option of what type of Rescue CD / USB you can choose from , for example ,
when you go to Avast Rescue CD / USB you dont get to choose what operating system you can select it creates the Rescue CD based on the operating system you are on , so , if i create a Rescue CD / USB on the Windows 8 / 10 machine it will not work on the Windows XP ,
so i was asking if Avast had some sort of ISO Server library where one can download a Bootable ISO of a avast rescue CD based on operating simple ,
its very simple and practical have no idea why they dont have that available .
