hey im wondering if there is any way i can use norton and avast at the same time using the avast as my anti virus scan and my norton for the firewall does any1 know how i can set it up this way so both the norton and avast firewalls arent running at the same time…because whenever this happens i can never log onto the internet…lol alot of u are thinking why i would want to do this…the bottom line is i have everything setup with norton like blocked sites and stuff plus norton also has different accounts set like owner can look ovr anything and then the lower ones arent able to do what the owner can…but hey if u can do this with avast ill uninstall the norton b/c avast just blows norton away it found viruses on my computer that norton didnt pick up…btw im running norton 2004…also i just recently updated my norton will taking it off take the update away b/c i had to pay for that ???
It isn’t recommended to run two resident on-access scanners. Norton I would say is even less of a chance, this forum is littered with the debris left behind by Norton even after an uninstall but still causing conflicts. Norton gets so deep into the system that it can and does cause conflict. If avast detects it on install it is likely not to install fully to avoid conflict, which can lock-up your system possibly leaving you vulnerable.
You would have to fully remove Norton in order to get avast to work.
k man thx i also have another question can u setup like accounts with avast as u can with norton like theres the owners account and the kids account with norton
I haven’t use Norton in so many years that I’m totally unfamiliar with it. So I don’t know how the Norton achieve this.
avast can be installed on an XP system using ‘the Administrator’ account so all users will have access but will be limited as to what they can do to the avast installation, not sure if that is what you are getting at.
No. There isn’t this feature in avast.
avast has a ‘global’ password to protect some settings. Just right click the ‘a’ blue icon and set it
