Checked if it was a virus or anything, it wasn’t. Still persisted. I did notice my phone had a YouTube app with a pretty good sound recording device, so I decided to take a video of the sound. The video is only sound.
The start is me typing in my password to login, after that a few seconds pass and the first avast! update notification, sound shortly after. Then the bug where it pops up twice happens, and sound shortly after. Then it goes on for a bit more and there is a sound without anything.
Whatever, I just don’t like reviving old threads since many people don’t seem to read the last post and just go with the original. Plus, what forums I go on, it’s not allowed to bring back old threads.
We fixed that already, it turned out I had an old failed malware install from a year ago on my system. I’m asking about the sound now. Also, are you saying you can’t watch the video? Guess I’ll have to make it public then…
Changed the link to the correct one. Heh. The other topic has nothing to do with this problem though, as I have no idea what is causing my computer to make that sound. No malware or anything, and it doesn’t seem to be avast! doing it either.
On the other topic a malware removal specialist has checked your logs and found nothing. I have no information on any malware making noises. But now just concentrating on the strange noise, which we aren’t able to hear (as your youtube link is private), it would be hard to even hazard a guess as to what it might be.
But in conclusion to your other you stated “I’m good with the sound, its just an annoying bug I guess” so I’m not sure what anyone else is able to do.
The specialists are either malware removal (whom we do call in cases of malware removal) or avast related issues, anything outside of that would be a bonus if someone had any idea what it might be.
I’m still going to ask around anyway. I made it public just now, not so big on YouTube and things. Do you think it’d be possible if I showed the clip to some local PC guys like the Geek Squad from Best Buy? They aren’t the brightest, but I’m sure they have heard the sound before. But I will NOT let them touch my computer. Their USB sticks are full of malware.
If you are talking about the double avast update notification (which I don’t think you are) then that will be resolved in the next program update (already is in the beta version).
Or the three piano style key sounds, then I would look for what other applications that you have running on boot as they sound like some sort of notification. A little bit like the ping before the avast update notification.
I’ve been looking but I should start task manager just to make sure. I think it might be Malwarebytes notifying me my trial version is gone, but I don’t think it’s that. But yes, it was those keys.
Not just task manager as that would show a lot more are running well after boot, since these appear to be very early in the I suggest that you check the msconfig startup items.
Ahhhh, I might have found it. I downloaded a free trial for a screen capture software, DXTory, and I believe it might be that. Or it could be Norton Online Backup, which is still somehow on my computer even though I cleared all of the Norton things from my system…
Either of those two is causing. Can finally rest peacefully now, just been bugging me all day!
It sounds like a USB being detected/installed
Go to control panel > sounds
And under windows disable the sounds for the three device connect options then reboot
Wow, thanks. It was saying a device failed to connect. It’s most likely my mouse then. Phew, thanks for the help.
After further inspection, it seems to be Razer Synapse that’s having the problem. I’ve noticed that shortly after startup my keybindings for my mouse macro mess up and then reset back to what they were. It’s all good now, thanks.
