I stopped the free trial of Avast Cleanup, but still get prompts to run the program

  • I chose NOT to continue using Avast Clean up after the free trial, but still receive prompts to run it. I have NOT . How can I stop receiving these prompts?

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

Two things:

  1. Did you set up a payment mandate ?
  2. I believe this is a requirement for a free trial of a Paid product - if so you need to cancel that or payment will be actioned.
  3. Do you still have it installed ?
  4. If not, it could be the main Avast avast program you have installed (?) responsible for this. As they would somehow be incorporated.

Yes. I have auto renewal for my regular Avast Premium protection, so that would have applied however I cancelled a couple days prior to the end of the trial.
No, it is not in my Subscriptions now.

There have been instances where the auto payment of subscriptions can be actioned early, so it isn’t a great idea to leave it close to it being actioned.

Personally, I have never paid for a free trial of any product Avast or any other program.
I have some paid programs, but I would never consider an Auto Payment Mandate.

Never having used Avast Premium or the CleanUp product, I can’t speak from personal experience, but I suspect there would be a degree of integration with Avast Premium. Is there anything relating to CleanUp within Avast Premium Settings ?

Thanks. As far as I can tell from examining my subscriptions, the only one active at present is the Avast Premium. There is a grayed out subscription image to Clean Up, and when I click on Invoice, it shows $0 charges. Last night, I checked in my Windows Programs list and found Clean up still there, so I uninstalled it. I suspect this is what was generating the pop ups after the trial ended. What I don’t understand is when I cancelled the trial, Avast didn’t automatically REMOVE all files associated with the program trial. We shall see if my uninstall did the trick to stop the popups.

You’re welcome.

I would understand why they don’t remove programs that you installed.

I suspect that many may consider that an infringement on ‘your’ PC as you installed it. You may have made changes within the program which would also be lost.

Just uninstall Avast Cleanup completely, even if the trial is over. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall, and remove it. If you’re still getting prompts, try using Avast Uninstall Utility to fully remove it. Also, check if any Avast-related tasks are still in your startup or task scheduler and disable them.

Yes, I did that a couple of days ago and it seems to have done the trick. No new prompts since. Thanks.
