I installed Avast Cleanup Premium on my Windows 10/64 on top of my previous Avast, VPN and Passwords subscriptions on my desktop computer.
After hours of installation with several restarts, and after activating it, all Sound was missing and Office 365 was inoperative.
I have a Realtek driver for my speakers and a microphone.
I had Office 365 installed for years.
Luckily I was able to reinstall Office 365 fairly quickly, the hard way, but the sound took another 6 hours.
During the Cleanup, the Realtek driver was singled for updating among several others.
We started by checking all speaker and microphone connections and restarted the computer a couple of times.
Running Windows Troubleshooter simply confirmed the problem.
Finding no specific help I downloaded the driver from Realtek.
Our internet speed is 100 mbps in and 11 mbps out.
But downloading the 258 MB driver took over 4 hours.
That is probably the reason Cleanup Premium stopped trying to download it after disabling the previous version of the Realtek driver.
Once we installed the new driver the sound was restored.
The computer was finally restored after loosing a whole day cleaning up after Cleanup Premium.
I hope it was worth the effort, because so far I have seen no improvement.
Yesterday I had to reinstall Office 365 from scratch again. I figured that it was some residual effect of Cleanup Premium.
Today it happened again.
This time I uninstalled Avast Cleanup Premium.
Shame on you: Money back does not cover 3 days interruptions!
I will not install it in my Android.
Incidentally, I have another problem with another of your services.
The VPN continues to notifies that the internet connection has been interrupted, and minutes later that the protection has been restored. What happens in the mean time?
