I wanted to ask some questions about avast free edition

HI I was wondering if I could ask some questions about the lastested version of avast antivirus free edition. My questions are this. You see I have a brand new Windows Vista Basic system with Windows Mail as my email program and internet Explorer 7 installed on this computer. I was wanting to have some one find out for me whether avast antivirus the lastested version will work with Windows Mail and work with internet Explorer 7?

I was also wondering if I could ask another question you see I have a broad band always on connection and I was wanting to now if Avast antivirus free edition will work with Broad band always on connection?

The other question I would like to ask is when it says that Avast antivirus edtion also has a sheild called Network Sheild that only works with avast antivirus on windows vista systems. What I would like to now what does Network Sheild do and what does it protect me from?

thanks for your help
please feel free to pass this on to the right area of the avast web boards to anyone that can help me with these questions for answeres

Hey Howard, Welcome to the forums.

Question 1, Yes Avast works with I.E. 7 and windows Mail just fine. I’m using Vista Home Premium with Avast and have had no problems.

  1. My connection is always on through a cable modem, again no problems

  2. Here’s what ALWIL has to say about Network Shield, “This module provides protection against known Internet worms/attacks. It analyses all network traffic and scans it for malicious contents.”

If your using a firewall (which you should be using at least Windows firewall) You’ll rarely if ever hear from Network Shield.

Welcome to the forum Howard29.
Vista and avast! have worked well together ever since the
Vista beta days.

As Bob suggested, never post your email address on a public forum … unless you like lots & lots of spam email. :frowning:
