the usual amount came up AND my main system comes up clean when i run avast. i’m running WAY slow, update weekly.
howeverrrr, my other pc (which i hardly ever use) has a newer version of avast. tonight i plugged my jumpdrive in and jumped on the web. not even 10 minutes later sirens went off. it was a worm.
my gut points to the obvious- my beloved machine carried this over to the older one.
i’m not going to shut down my machine tonight – there’s too much at stake.i will download the new version however. i’m running so slow it’s well… you know. arrrgh!
i guess my question is, do i need a whole new version? why didn’t my updates detect this?
i’m running version 4.6 home edition
it was a url. i don’t know if i typed it in correctly because it never opened (thankfully!-avast jumped up fast)… but assuming i did, it was copperfieldliquors dot com
yes, it was. that saved me from getting the worm. however, i am back on my old computer again. right after i posted this, i ran the software (like i said i would)- it found a trojan in 2 places on my hard drive (e: and f: drives. i thought those drives were safe!)
the trojan was found in 2 system files… not repairable. i had to delete.
right after my connection died-- so i guess i deleted something associated with my interet. i did a system restore to try to get my LAN working again, but no luck.
i have the details in a text file, but i’m not on my computer. i’ll post them later =(
