Icons missing in Systray

Hi.
Sometime in last couple of weeks my 2 systray icons dissappeared!
Don’t remember exactly when happened.
I have WinXP with latest SP2 installed for awhile now.
Have latest level Avast 4.5.549 installed.
I did try Repair - no difference.
Also tried something that was in another thread - clicked on ashDisp icon in Program files. That did bring up the 2 icons in the systray again, BUT were not there again after I rebooted.
Help.
Thx.
Bob

Give RejZor’s AEC a try. You can find the link to it in his signature and in his profile.

Eddy - why would I want to add a new program (with possible bugs) to Avast? I don’t see anything in description of AEC that mentions fixing systray icon problem.
Also, shouldn’t the original program be expected to address this type of problem?
Thx.

You can enable/disable the system icon with it. It did help others, so it may help you too.

Generally, repairing the installation works in these cases…
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

The AEC is safe… no need to fear about it

Ok, problem resolved.
Re-installed Avast4 and icons now in systray.
Thx.
