IE7

I hope someone can help. For some reason my IE7 is missing it’s toolbar, so theres no file, edit, view etc. I’ve looked on the Microsoft website but found nothing. I also looked on google but still couldn’t find anything.

can anyone help?

A google search for restore IE7 toolbar returns many hits, this is just one of them but possibly what you are looking for, Put IE7’s file menu back where it belongs.

Isn’t it View > Toolbars > Menu Toolbar?

Right click on the open space next to the tabs and choose “Menu bar”

Not being an IE7 user, but isn’t this chicken and egg (which came first) as the View option is in the Menu toolbar ;D

Yeah… I’ve realized this after. Maybe following Mark’s suggestion.

Well this registry hack (mentioned in my first link) puts it back to the top of the window as per IE6, http://www.veign.com/blog/2007/02/relocate-menu-bar-in-ie7-to-top-of.html

I use IE7.

click on tools, on the dropdown you will see MENU bar, click it. Now your Menu bar is visiable.

Glad to help.

Thanks for all the quick replies.

DavidR- your link didn’t work. i think it’s for moving the toolbar but mine is missing.

marc57- i have already tried your suggestion before. but retried it just in case, with no luck.

specklebird- there is no tools to click on.

Did you check out the google search, that was just one of the hits ?

Display and show the Classic Menus on top of Internet Explorer 7 Window Temporarily

Simply press the Alt key for a while and release it, and the menu bar will be displayed on top of the Internet Explorer 7 window.

Unhide and Bring Back the Menu Bar on top of IE7 Window Permanently

Click on Tools then select the Menu Bar (a tick should appear to the left of Menu Bar), and the Menu Bar will be shown until you unclick (or unselect) the Menu Bar from Tools menu again.

Force the Menu Bar to Display On Top of Navigation Bar and Address (URL) Bar

Whichever method you choose, you will notice that the classic menu bar is displayed between the navigation toolbar which contains forward and backward buttons, address bar, refresh and stop button and search box, and the tabs bar.

For the last comment you can use the last link I gave to move the location.

Could IE7 be set to full screen? Move the mouse to the top of the screen and see if the toobar reappears.

And, try pressing F11 to see if it comes back.

I didn’t know about the F11 trick, thanks CharleyO.

I have checked the some of the hits. there was a forum where others had the same problem but the issue wasn’t solved. I’m going to keep searching.

for some reason none of the shortcuts work either.(alt etc).

It’s not set to full screen.

Also i’ve noticed at the bottom of the screen where the open applications are lined up, on the IE7 tab it only has the logo. It doesn’t have any writing. On the firefox tab it says mozilla firefox. it’s also the same at the very top of the screen, just the logo but no writing. which i don’t think is normal, correct me if i’m wrong.

Maybe this will help.

I’ve already tried everything in that link.

Hmmm, this is an odd one. Did your PC come with IE7 or did you upgrade?

The only thing I have left to suggest is, if it was an upgrade, Try going to Add or remove programs and uninstall IE7 and then reinstall and see if that helps.

Man! what a hassle. i didn’t want to resort to reinstalling because i got a pop up saying some programs might be effected. however it looks like it is the only solution so i did it and it worked.

Thanks for all the help.

P.S i wonder what caused the problem, i hope it doesn’t happen again…

Good Deal! I am glad you re-installed and was successful. ;D
