If I update to 8.0.1488, my Windows 7 BSODs on restart

I’m sorry if this has been dealt with. My searches came up empty, but I may have missed it. I have tried 3 times to update AVAST to 8.0.1488, and each time I get a BSOD which blames a broken driver for stopping Windows from starting up. It is the Bluscreen that advises the user to remove any recently added hardware or software. Has this been fixed, or should I do something in order to avoid the problem? My system specs to follow, and I’m grateful for your time and any help you can offer. About to go back to work, but I’ll check back tonight. Thanks!
