That Avast 4.8.1296 is now downloaded and running on my XP Pro SP2 along with Online Armor 3.0.0.190FREE, Opera 9.62 without problems so far

No apology needed, the important thing is everything is working as it should.
Now you can update to SP3 that has been available for 5 months and working for me just fine.
