Boot mode: Normal
-= We didn’t detect any active process of a firewall on your system. Reasons maybe:
(1.) You are using the windows firewall or a hardware firewall.
(2.) You are using a firewall of an unknown vendor.
(3.) You are using a firewall, but for unknown reasons it is disabled
(4.) You don’t use any firewall at all.
A firewall with outbound protection will fix this problem… Some examples are: Agnitum Outpost, PC Tools, Zone Alarm, COMODO & Online Armor… [all are available at CNET
-= Windows XP Service Pack 3 has a lot of security fixes… You should consider updating [Windows Update]…
-= Nothing else is wrong…
-= But, if you’ll ask me, SpyBot S&D’s TeaTimer might probably be annoying… Downloading Windows Defender instead of TeaTimer would probably be better…
You are using Windows XP's firewall but, you are left unprotected in outbound matters.. XP's firewall supports inbound protection only [though Vista's firewall firewall can be configured to support Outbound Protection].. Here are some free firewalls that could offer outbound protection [just choose one]:
Service Packs are all-in-one updates offered by software manufacturers.. The latest Service Pack for Windows XP is SP3.. This includes error fixes, memory leak fixes, security/vulnerability issue fixes, new programs for a better/faster computer,etc.. It is very much recommended that you update to SP3 as soon as possible to, mainly, immunize your PC from latest threats..
(3) TeaTimer
TeaTimer is some sort of a program that monitors what is being installed, ran or background processing.. Some programs [especially those that run in fullscreen mode] are usually terminated suddenly since you have to tell Spybot S&D to allow the program first and will require you to start the program again.. More annoying is that, some programs have more than 2 processes so, TeaTimer will terminate the program as many times as the not-yet-white listed-processes.. Windows Defender can do same tasks as Spybot do in a less annoying way..
Whilst the windows XP firewall is usually good at keeping your ports stealthed (hidden) it provides no outbound protection and you should consider a third party firewall.
Any malware that manages to get past your defences will have free reign to connect to the internet to either download more of the same, pass your personal data (sensitive or otherwise, user names, passwords, keylogger retrieved data, etc.) or open a backdoor to your computer, so outbound protection is essential.
PC Tools Firewall seems to have the least user headaches as it doesn’t seem to be constantly asking the user questions about this and that.
Online Armor for the most parts fine but it has caused some users grief after avast program updates and that is something you have to watch out for.
Comodo is now a suite and you have to do a custom install so as not to install the antivirus element (or use the add remove programs to remove the AV element if already installed), of all the firewalls listed this seems to be the noisiest in asking questions, depending on settings and elements used, so it could be daunting for those not to familiar with firewalls or their systems.
Can this service pack 3 stand alone like service pack 2 that currently my installed OS. I mean can service pack 3 run without service pack 2. And if i don’t have purchased product key on my current OS, in other words not genuine OS. Can this service pack 3 works if i update service pack 3 from service pack 2?
-= Service Pack 3 will not be available in Microsoft Update unless you completed all the updates for SP1 & SP2… I didn’t encounter any WGA validation during the installation, same thing if you’ll download the installer at Microsoft Download Center, so I guess there wont be any problems regarding Windows Genuine Advantage & Windows Product Activation…
