I'm sick and tired of Avast Internet Security sucking the life out of my WEB/PC

I’ve tried the suggestions I got last time, uninstall Avast, reinstall, reboot pc, and all that. I have no other antivirus programs installed on my pc, i’ve turned windows firewall off. I’ve called my ISP told them about Avast and everything is fine on their end, checked twice in the same week.

My pc is highend and i have a internet speed of 50mbit d/l and 5mbit u/l which is more than the average person has. Avast Internet Security 7.0.1474 is sucking the life out of my pc and internet, making everything slow. When I have it uninstalled everything runs fine and dandy as it should.

If theres no solution I’d ask if theres a refund option because I have no use of a antivirus program that apparently for some reason demands so much attention.

you can let one of the experts have a look inside!..maybe he can spot something wrong

attach a OTL log…not copy and paste http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

I hate to come off as a jerk but I don’t need to do a scan of my pc. I’ve already done it and my pc isn’t infected. I might seem like a “noob” on here because I’m new but I’m not computer dumb. Like I said, all problems are gone when Avast isn’t installed on my pc. But when I do have it installed, everything runs slow.

I’ve had multiple antivirus programs before and they never drained my pc or internet.

I've already done it and my pc isn't infected.
I did not say you was.......if so i would have suggested to run all tools ;)

OTL have the ability to also show other problems as it is a diagnostic tool

Okay, I’ll download OTL and run a scan. Do you want me to attach the file and post in the same thread here?

yep…

i have notified Essexboy so he will have a look when he arrive

Okay great, thanks.

edit: Ok. I’ve attatched the notepad, it should work I hope.

Ok before I do anything, what do you mean that only this system is relevant for the fix? And what do you mean by I might lose my desktop icons and desktop for a short period?

The desktop items is normally only relevant for XP as OTL will stop all running processes

Each fix I craft is specific to the machine I am looking at, the warning is to stop other people running it for what seems to be the same problem

Ah okay I see. Thanks, I will what you described in the earlier post. I will report back as soon as I can.

Hope i don’t sound stupid being a newbie but i have two questions. One is web rep on? if so turn it off on all browsers and two post a screen shot of your task manager. I have a computer where avast is using up more memory than most of the posters. I was ready to uninstall it. Maybe there’s some programs that are using up some valuable memory. I know how flustrating it is to buy software and then it doesn’t work the way you wanted it to. i turned off some more programs and avast is still here. A screen shot of the task amsnager would help. THANKS. At my last forum i wasn’t able to post on any topic but my own?

Not a problem, different insights to a problem can be usefull

Here are a couple quick speed test’s that I just ran and I am currently running AIS latest version on win 7 64 bit on a quad core computer. NO COMPLAINTS HERE!!

Hope you get it figured out!!

Whilst I’m not using AIS but the free version, I get pretty close to my theoretical maximum for my internet package (40Mbps download and 2Mbps upload).

With AIS on Win 7 64bit I get the following for my 30mb down, 3mb up connection.

http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k370/Dch48/Speed.jpg

It has hit as high as 28.7 down.

I have noticed slow speeds if I connect wirelessly, but it’s not Avast’s fault. I was only getting 4-5mbs down until I changed the wireless channel in my router from auto (which was channel 2) to channel 9. It immediately jumped to the same speed as the wired connection.

Okay I ran the custom Fix script that you gave me yesterday. And I attatched the results.

and how is the computer behaving?..anything changed?

What Pondus said ;D
