Importing Bookmarks to Safezone

I’m a new user of Avast Internet Security and have an issue with the Safezone feature. It has the ability to import settings from your browser. I’ve tried to import my Bookmarks from Firefox but that doesn’t seem to work as no bookmarks are imported. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

See this link on the forum for some more info on this topic

This will be possible (somehow) in avast7.

Thanks PK

Thanks Nesivos. I see that someone has imported Bookmarks OK from IE9 so I could go that route although it’s not a browser that I use regularly.

I did eventually manage to import bookmarks from FF to safezone like this:

check reset safezone contents in avast UI

open safezone

open a new tab in the browser before doing anything else

the getting started - import bokmarks now prompt will appear at the LHS top of screen - click on that, and select FF, bookmarks.

I never did manage to get it to work through the usual browser Options route though

Tried that Mag but no success. I am using Firefox 4.

I’m on FF4 too- shame it didn’t work for you.

Looks like you may have to go the long way around

import favourites to IE from FF

import favourites to Safezone from IE

Hi Mag. Life is never simple is it? I’ve managed to import my bookmarks but via a tortuous route.

Firstly I couldn’t get IE9 to import my Firefox bookmarks in their entirety so I spent hours trying to get around that. Eventually I gave up and looked for 3rd party software which would do it and found a program called Transmute to do the transfer. That worked fine so now I had all my Firefox bookmarks in IE9. Then I had to make IE9 my default browser as Safezone import only shows the default browser. Importing from IE9 went without a hitch so now it’s done.

I’m pleased to hear it - well done.

I am undecided about safezone - if I didn’t have my FF bookmarks I don’t think I would use it.

Normally in FF I have lots of tools to reassure me I’m at the site I think I am - Linkextend, Trusteer Rapport, webrep, mbam website block, avast network shield and web shield. Plus I have noscript.

In safezone I suspect I’m down to just the avast shields - so if I didn’t have the bookmarks I trust from FF I would just stick to FF I think…

By the way - safezone will (nominally) import from browsers other than default - its just the dropdown box looks blank until you actually move your cursor down into it - goodness knows why?

No, all avast shields are still active (they monitor whole OS no matter which desktop/user is active) – but, if it finds an infected website/virus, popup will be shown on default desktop (not in SafeZone), this should be fixed in v7. Webrep isn’t active in SafeZone, this will be probably fixed in v7 too.

By the way pk… you’re talking if version 7 is almost ready ;D
Would we need to wait until version 7… can’t we expect to a nearer version 6 upgrade? Why not?

sorry, it wasn’t my intention to delude you into thinking it
v6 update (beta) should be available next week and program update very soon

Thanks - bit of a misunderstanding - I’d always thought the avast shields were all still working.

Thanks pk… A beta is a good think when forum is boring ;D ;D
