It happens very often that AMS doesn’t update exactly often, especially since i use WiFi only and before it decides to update, i already turn off WiFi. Wouldn’t it be better to perform an update check when you open the Android Market?
Or, just make it to check for an update when WiFi connection is established. I want to have it up to date before i start downloading or updating apps but at the moment, it’s usually not up to date at all because of rather short WiFi intervals.
The outdated notification stuff will be fixed. Also the application should react better to the establishment of Internet connection. Might be some other tweaks as well.
Has this problem been fixed yet? I’m having the problem currently as well every day. I get the notification that Avast definitions is not up to date and I cannot update it. On a rare occasion, it will update only if I hook it up to WiFi, but it will not up date through the 3G or 4G network.
If it has not been fixed yet, when do you anticipate the fix to be done? Thank you.
I have the same problem. Have to uninstall, then reinstall to get the “virus defs are out of date” to go away. As SafeSurf said I can’t even make it update within avast.
I only use WiFi (Tablet) and still have the update issue.
My question is, are the defs out of date or it is a false warning?
The notification should be removable by clicking the “Clear” button in the avast! Notification Manager. Also you should be able to update the definitions manually using the options in Settings. If not then try to restart your device. You should be able to update manually then.
We are working on the issue but takes a bit of time since sometimes it takes 4-8 hours to reproduce it.
Have you not checked the settings as that reports what version you have ?
They are under the Automatic updates and follow the same number format as the PC version, e.g. 120112-00 (2012, 1st month, 12day - first update of the day) being the current latest update.
Is it known if this update will allow the me to select the definition update parameters such as day, time, frequency, and network type? For example, will I be able to set AMS to update once daily at 12:30 AM only on wifi?
say what connection types are allowed, WiFi, 3G or Roaming (or all, etc.); I have mine set to update on WiFi only.
if you want it to update automatically or not.
it doesn’t have a time frame you can set for updates.
So it will do some of what you want by only using wifi, if you disable automatic updates, you would have to use the manual update now function (this you would have to remember though). There aren’t that many updates per day anyway and if on wifi there wouldn’t be a cost associated on the other networks.
Duh, I don’t know how I forgot about the connection type options. :-[
I am looking forward to the fix for the automatic updates. I rebooted this morning and AMS reported the definitions were outdated but then never updated them. I had to do it manually.
On a totally different subject…I cannot send private messages on this forum. I also don’t see any means to contact a moderator. Any suggestions how I can get this fixed?
