improvier.exe false positive.(Fretlight software)

As I was scanning a full system scan with Avast home free after installing and updating it for the first time.
I tried to send the 4 mb file to you all with no luck…connection kept timing out, then back at square 1.
3 times in row till I gave up and sent report without the file to https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=18.
there were 4 or 5 file upload spots there but no luck on sending the file so I skipped it.

The file name is improviser.exe, and it came with 2 other installers that were not found by avast as a threat.
It also finds the installed file as a threat as well as the installer file for it.(improviser.exe)
(Screen shot below)
I only removed names in the screen shot below.

All these 3 installers I speak of were downloaded from manufacturers site after purchasing a fretlight guitar.
http://fretlight.com/homepage.html
The software its calling a threat, is a software that plays along harmony’s or melody’s,
to improvise along with using the fretlight guitar.

Scanned the file here
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
and got this.
http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanresult/4c2b26848e22e8a5028b2fe29a0a020ce8a17e01

no infections found:)

Two other questions I would really like answered, if you would be so kind would be:

1
I would like to know how to tell avast not to scan and remove certain files and don’t know how.

2
How do I create a log with Avast into a word document without having to type it all out?
Looked all over and didn’t see this option anywhere.
Just found where you can look at the infections in its like UI or something like that, but no list of logs that pop up in a word document type file for easy posting.

you can see it found that file along with K-Lite_Codec_Pack_610_Basic
http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanresult/2c7358f51165aa721c9b9a07d4d3042dbce74cb0/4d9e432e1755018f5d08c3633cab12fe495c0d8b

I think this was in the list too in the previous scan so I included it since I know its safe.
Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2009-09-09.
http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanresult/e310570c09a7b3c340c1218ab24286fb1f5f8036/6be47f5d77eaa406e7faabffda0ff347a14cb3e5

Ive scanned with spybot, malwarebytes, superantispyware, AVG, and then there’s the jotti scans on those files too above also.

Plz fix these detections, and thanks for your time and effort in advance for such a good free alternative.

Still no word or info regarding on how to do this yet?:

Are they not an option as of yet?
If so please explain how they are done, if they are not available, or where i should suggest these additional options.

Should I have suggested these options in an other topic perhaps?
Please link me to the right place to post these, if such a place exists here.

Good day, and thanks in advance.

EDIT :

Oops … wrong thread. :frowning:

Well, I finally got the email from Avast support, and they said to ftp those files to em.
I guess I have no idea how to do this because.

I went here,

https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=18

Clicked on ftp link.
then dropped the files they requested into the incoming folder as suggested and it keeps winding up in my downloads folder and I don’t see it uploaded there either afterward.

I’m on windows 7 and have tried this with Ie as well as Mozilla firefox browser as well and logged in and not…so.

I don’t get it.

My questions have been answered though up to this point, and that’s good news…

Here is the answer they sent me in e mail.

  1. If you want to exclude a file or program from an “on-demand” scan, you need
to go into “Settings”, “Exclusions”, then add the location of the program or
    file to be excluded.
Note, you will need to add “" in front of the file name. For example, if
you wish to exclude the file called “avast.exe”, type "
    \avast.exe” (without
    the quotation marks).
Note, however, this will not exclude it from the resident protection scan.

To exclude a file or program from the resident protection scan, you need to
click on the blue “a-ball” in the bottom right corner of the screen. On the left hand
side of the box that appears, select “Standard Shield”, then “Customize”. If you then
select the “Advanced” tab, you can add the location of the file or program to be
excluded.

Finally you need to add this program to the web exceptions. In “On-access
protection control”, click on the Web shield icon and select the Customize
button as before. Then click on the “Exceptions” tab and add the desired URL
to the list.

  1. You can set up scan report files that are in Ansi, unicode or xml format.
Avast log files can be found in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log (for version 4.8) or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup (for version 5) or the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Applications data\Alwil Software\Avast5\Log directory (depends also on Windows version).

All I really need to know is how to ftp the files they requested.
Looks like they said not to use a pw on the zip file from what they wrote me back though.
Just to name the zip file my e mail addy or user name according to this and that link I posted above…

And I quote:
"Thank you for contacting our support center with your concerns.

You can upload all samples that you are referring to on our ftp server, remember that you will have write only permission.

There is more information to access it:

ftp.avast.com
usr: anonymous
without password
remote dir: incoming

Send us email to support@avast.com after the file is uploaded, please."
