I have a development environment called Insusoft 6.1. When I try to save a scr file from it, it crashes. When I report this to Microsoft (automated report), it blames Avast. However, when I stop Avast, the crash still happens.
Is this really an Avast problem? I have Avast pro version 4.7-892.
Are there any defails in the crash window? What operating system do you have?
Does it help if you stop avast! resident protection before using Insusoft? If yes, does it help to stop only specific providers, e.g. Script Blocker?
I am using XP Pro Service pack 2.
The error does happen if I have stopped resident protection.
I get these messages:
Studio Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close

I was able to stop the crashes by completely uninstalling Avast. I had tried stopping Resident Protection both during installation and running of Indusoft 6.1. Re-installing Avast made the problem return.
It seems that stopping Resident Protection does not remove all interaction with Indusoft 6.1. On another Win XP PC with Norton Antivirus 2006 I could run Indusoft 6.1 without problem.
This took about 3/4 day to figure out. I hope this kind of problem with “stop” not meaning full stopping can be fixed.
What if you (in the crash dialog) click on “To see what data this error report contains, click here”… there should be another link, “To view technical information about the error report, click here”. If you click there, there’s a panel with technical info, followed by a list of files (one or two) in the bottom panel. How many files are there in the bottom? If they are more than one, can you copy these files somewhere else (before closing the dialog) and sending them to us?
Thanks.
I had difficulty attaching the log file. It was too large. “6147_appcompat_zip.log” is actually a zip file containing “6147_appcompat.txt”. I renamed .zip to .log. You can name it back to .zip and uncompress it.
Also, I attached “Studio Manager Error Signature.JPG” which is a screen shot of one of the error reporting dialogs.
This worked. I can now save screens in my Indusoft projects. If can find a way to make the script blocker comapatible with Indusoft, that would be great. Otherwise I will just keep Script Blocker uninstalled.
It works! The Beta is over now (released), so I instlled 4.7-942 version. I also took the step in control panel / add remove programs to install the script blocker. Then I go into Indusoft 6.1 and save a screen file. There is now no crash.
