With some registry adjustments you can inhibit DoS attacks to a considerable extent for Win 2xxx computers, see here for the free program,

Settings not advised for Win XP etc.

These settings can be used in any Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 computer. The effect of these settings on any other operating system including Windows XP is not known and should not be applied.

Adjusted the posting accordingly. It was mainly meant for people that have a server running via Win 2xxx etc.
