installation error... previous version

Hello, my name is Arthur, and I am an EverQuestaholic. I have been EQ-free for 2 years now.

That being said, I would like to re-install avast! but it doesn’t seem to share my affection. I had previously uninstalled avast! because it would update itself at unpredictable times and get my EQ group killed. I have been running AVG Free Edition. Today I removed AVG via their uninstaller, and tried to install avast! from download.com.

And that’s when the fight started…

The installer tells me it can’t install because of a previous installation. So I tried re-running the copy of avast! I had on my hard drive from about a year ago. Same issue. Here’s a copy of the error novel, er, I mean report. If you see something that looks like a suspect, please give me a holler back.
